Before he can regain his sword, Volund is ham-strung. Each must journey to another world before recovering his loss, and, in each instance, recovery takes place during a kind of mock wedding. Volund weds Bodvild (whom he calls his bride) by assaulting her. 

Thor’s wedding feast was celebrated by St Augustine of Hippo and Veronica of Rhinoceros. A profiteer in a seer-sucker suit was given the chair. Judge not the feast for it ends with the slaughter of the gods.
